What is coaching?

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”

Wayne W. Dyer

Through coaching you can reflect on how you can optimise your mindset. In therapy, you look back to your past to heal. With coaching you mainly look at the now and the future. What do you want? And how can you get there? And sometimes you look back to your past to learn more about yourself.

Our method

In our coaching we look together at your growth according to the GROW model: Goal, Reality, Options and Wrap up. So what is your goal, where are you now, what options do you have, how do you make this concrete and what do we agree on? You set a long-term goal, which we divide into short-term goals and daily and weekly habits. We make these measurable and achievable. We focus on the process. The achievement goal theory distinguishes between process goal and result goal.

  • A process goal focuses on improving a skill, measuring your own progress, in which you want to lift a little more weight every workout, improve your lifestyle every week by, for example, working on the sleep routine, nutrition or telephone use. This will give you pleasure in the process and increase your self-confidence.
  • A result goal focuses on the end result. You compare yourself to others. In personal training it is nice that you train in a private setting, but it is sometimes challenging to really appreciate your progress for what it is. Because you may have little idea how others of your age and with your training experience perform. Max and Dymphy tell you how your performance compares to others. A side note is that only a result goal has a greater chance of being discouraged and giving up in the event of a setback.

You are a hyperachiever and go for the end result, but it is precisely the small daily and weekly steps that ensure that you make progress in the short and long term. We help you with continuity, because you book your weekly sessions, and intention, because together we believe that you can achieve your goal and adjust where necessary. This makes the process sustainable, clear and keeps you moving (pun intended).

Coaching in personal training

At the beginning of the training, while you are warming up, we check in through several questions:

  • Energy Rating: How would you rate your energy right now on a scale of 1 to 10? How do you want to feel after training?
  • Emotions: how are you feeling today? Point to the Mood Meter
  • Expectation management: What do you want to get out of the training? What makes this training successful for you? What do you expect from me?
  • Looking back on last week: what went well and where is there room for improvement?Looking forward to next week: how can you fill the room for improvement? What concrete steps can you take next week?

During the training there is room to discuss topics such as work-life balance, emotional strength, dealing with an inner critic (judge) for mental resilience.

  • Measuring progress: you follow a strength and/or cardio program in which we keep track of your progress. This increases your intention and commitment. Because you know what your previous training did, you will be more motivated to perform better the next training.
  • Customization: what do you need? It’s not always about how much you weigh, how many kilos of weight can you lift more, but also about the balance between work, social and all the other balls you uphold in your life. The bow can’t always be tight, so sometimes we will adjust based on your total load in your life.

What’s in it for me?

  • Feeling empowered by showing leadership. You are the creator of your life.
  • More energy throughout the day.
  • Skills to communicate your feelings, needs and boundaries better.
  • Have me-time in your busy life
  • Gaining confidence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy that will serve you for a lifetime!
